Bhaktapur is the best preserved medieval city in the Kathmandu Valley, and is packed with multi-tiered temples, winding streets and ancient squares. It's a great place to see artisans at work and buy quality souvenirs especially in Potter's Square.
On the grassy plains of the western terai, Bardia is more remote and less accessible than Chitwan - so far fewer visitors. One-horned rhinoceros, wild elephants and tigers are among its resident animals.

Perched on a hilltop in eastern Bhutan, Trashigang enjoys great views of the surrounding valley and Drangme Chhu River. The town makes for a handy stopover if travelling to or from the Indian border, and its large, 17th century dzong is well worth a visit whilst you're there.
Thimphu is the capital of Bhutan and the site of one of its most famous festivals held every autumn at the dzong. It is also the home of the takin and a great place to shop for handicrafts.
Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger's Nest, is Bhutan’s most iconic and impressive sight, perched high above the Paro Valley.
A paradise for bird watchers and wildlife lovers, Manas is considered a conservation showpiece for the kingdom. It is home to around 365 species of birds plus rare tigers, rhinos and elephants.
The key attraction in Punakha is its beautiful riverside dzong. One of the most photogenic sights in the kingdom. It is especially lovely in the springtime when the purple jacaranda trees, that line its walls, are in full bloom.
Paro town is situated in a beautiful valley. It has Bhutan's only international airport as well as a large dzong which is the tallest building in the country at 22m high. Paro is also home to Taktsang, the famous Tiger's Nest Monastery.
